Best Ways to get Magnesium

Barbara Brierre - Wednesday, July 01, 2015

Seablue Vitamins has been making transdermal (applied to the skin) vitamin products for close to 10 years. It all started when I couldn’t get my father to swallow bulky magnesium tablets. I knew that his body needed magnesium because he was suffering from a progressive dementia and I knew magnesium would help his nervous system. I asked my compounding pharmacist if I could put magnesium in a cream to be absorbed through the skin. He said, “Sure, let’s give it a try.” That was the beginning of my company that makes these particular vitamins, all of which contain magnesium delivered through the skin. We have developed 6 vitamin products, all based on magnesium, because it is the missing mineral in our bodies.

Not long ago, my Pilates Instructor shared a newsletter with me that talks about the transdermal delivery of magnesium. The newsletter “Natural Way to Health,” written by Dr. David Brownstein says,

“Transdermal (applied to the skin) magnesium is actually a very good way to get magnesium into the body. Often, a patient cannot tolerate oral magnesium because it can lead to loose stools. The problem with oral dosing is that magnesium is poorly absorbed this way.”
He then mentions that intravenous and intramuscular forms of magnesium are the best ways to increase the body’s levels and I agree that this is good if you are a patient in the hospital, but for most people the transdermal delivery is without a doubt the best way to get magnesium.

Dr. Brownstein also says,

“Transdermal magnesium can be applied over achy areas of the body and can be used before bedtime as magnesium is a calming nutrient that will help you sleep. Most patients are deficient in magnesium.”
I completely agree with everything he said in his newsletter and encourage everyone to check out our Seablue Vitamins products. The CALM formula is the transdermal delivery of magnesium sulfate through liposomes, which are necessary to carry the vitamins through the skin layers. All of the other five formulas also contain magnesium and employ the same delivery process.
